Badjao takes the name of The Badjao or Boat People, one of the original (pre Filipino) tribes of the southern Philippines. Native to Davao in the Island of Mindanao and formerly Muslim but now Christianised many make a living as pearl divers selling high quality pearls from oyster beds near Paradise Island Davao City.
