A one day bus pass is excellent value. Buses run fairly regularly. There are two bus companies in Edinburgh but the dominant one is Lothian regional Transport, who require the exact fare - they do not give change.
At night the main form of transport is night bus ( hourly) or black taxi, which can be hard to get at 3am.
